“Icy Morning” A freak night time rain shower followed by a flash freeze produced loud cracking sounds, like gunshots in the dark, as branches fell to the ground. The next morning revealed a surreal scene combining beauty and destruction in my front yard in Harrow, Ontario. This landscape painting shows the early morning sun trying to peek out through the cold sky and glistening tree branches. Astonishingly, the following summer, this crabapple tree had the biggest harvest in 47 years.
